“I am not sure if Saumya found chess or chess found Saumya. My son first started playing chess at SMCA’s White House center; Balaji sir saw the potential in him and suggested him to join the High Performance Coaching Programme.

It’s been an amazing journey ever since. Not only has chess sharpened his strategic thinking, but it has also taught him practice, persistence and patience. Through a lot of work and determination, he and his team mates were placed second at the Asian Schools Singapore Chess Championship in 2007.”
