India’s current child sensation and chess prodigy from Pune 6year old Nivaan Khandadia added another feather to his cap by winning the prestigious Under-7 Pune District chess selections title held at Nehru Stadium, Swargate from 1st December 2018 to 3rd December 2018.
This championship was organized by Pune Municipal Corporation(PMC) and conducted by Pune District Chess Association. This tournament was conducted under various age categories from Under-7 to Under 19 separately for boys and girls.
This student of Vibgyor high school, Magarpatta won the title with a commendable score of 7 points out of possible 8 .This tournament had total 1038 participants in which 74 participants were there in Under-7 category.
Elated over his ward's win Nivaan's coach sandilya said,” Nivaan is a bright and talented student who has the potential to become the youngest grand master of Pune”.
Nivaan learns chess at South Mumbai Chess Academy (SMCA) at koregaon park under the guidance of coach Viswanath Sandilya.
Currently, Nivaan is preparing for the Singapore National Open championships to be held later this month in Singapore.
