Nivaan Khandhadia has created a flutter in the chess circle by winning gold medal in U-7 category of the 36th NAG Singapore Open National championship at the break on New Year dawn.

The seven-year-old Nivaan scored 7.5 out of a total eight points in the tournament that concluded at the Singapore Expo on the last day of 2019. The Global Indian International School student was challenged by a total pool of 96 players in the U-7 category while the whole tournament involved 663 players from different parts of the world.

Forays into the list of worlds youngest Rated chess players & Wins silver in the National schools chess 2019

 The date December 1, 2019 should be etched in the memory of our girl Myrah Sachdev. It was sort of double whammy for the six-year-old kid as she not only bagged the silver medal in the prestigious National Schools chess that just concluded at Aurangabad. Aman Dhanuka of La Martiniere for Boys with seven points lifted the prestigious 31st U-9 West Bengal Open chess championship that concluded at Gariahat’s Vrindavan Hall on Thursday.

A total of 195 players took part in the meet, out of which 19 were rated players. Dhanuka was seeded fourth with a rating of 1209. The fourth standard student logged in six points from as many rounds and was placed atop the table with half point clear lead.

SMCA once again continued to make its mark on world chess this time with our youngster from Pune Nivaan Khandadia clinching a bronze medal at the World School Chess Championships, which recently concluded in Antalya, Turkey.

Khandadia, from the Global Indian International School scored 6.5 in nine rounds in U-7 category and settled for a bronze. He is currently holding the record of the youngest rated chess player in India.

Former World schools Bronze Medalist & Maharashtra state champion, a trainee at the South Mumbai Chess Academy (SMCA) Hriday Sheth clinched the bronze medal in the U-13 National Schools Chess Championship, which concluded in Raipur. The tournament that saw a record participation of about 950 school kids.
